V Rising Complete Guide to the Armor Upgrade Path

This guide will explain all the steps to upgrade a Boneguard Chestguard all the way to Bloodmoon Chestguard, Boneguard Leggings, Boneguard Gloves, and Boneguard Boots works exactly the same as the chestguard, the only exception is that Boneguard Gloves and Boneguard Boots need 30 extra Animal Hide in the first stage.

I will list what you need to do to unlock each recipe, what materials you need to gather (and where you can find them), and what building you need to craft each stage at.

In V Rising there are 8 stages you go through when upgrading your Armour:

If you want to skip the entire guide and just see how to craft your next upgrade you can just press the stage you are interested in above to jump there.

How to upgrade other slots (rings etc) will come in another guide.

If you are fairly new to V Rising I recommend to read the information about tiers below, if it doesn't interest you, you can skip straight to How to Upgrade Your Armour.

V Rising Tier System

To better understand V Rising's system of upgrading Armour - it's a good idea to first get acquainted with the Tier System.

Armor Tiers

We can combined the 8 stages of Armour into 4 tiers:

  • Tier 0 - Boneguard Armour
  • Tier 1 - Nightstalker Armour
  • Tier 2 - Hollowfang Armour
  • Tier 3 - Dawnthorn Armour

Each tier of Armour has 2 stages: the base stage and the upgraded stage.

The reason why it's interesting to look at them at a tier perspective is because each tier generally requires a new tier of building to craft them, new tier of research desk to unlock them, and new tier of materials generally found in a new tier of location.

Location Tiers

Our map is divided into three tiers of locations:

  • Tier 1 - Farbane Woods
  • Tier 2 - Dunley Farmlands
  • Tier 3 - Silverlight Hills and Cursed Forest

Each tier of location will generally contain material for it's corresponding tier of Armour

Research Tiers

To unlock the upgraded stage of each Armour, we need to unlock them by researching:

Production Facility Tiers

Material Tiers

  • Tier 0 - Bone, Animal Hide
  • Tier 1 - Leather, coarse-thread, Copper Ingot
  • Tier 2 - Cotton Yarn, Wool Thread, Iron Ingot
  • Tier 3 - Ghost Yarn, Imperial Thread, Pristine Leather, Silk, Primal Blood Essence
